Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 8th of November.
Good morning, Bellevue.
🏘️ Community
The Open Door Mission offers the Turkey 'n' Fixin's program to provide free, personalized holiday meals for residents facing food insecurity after many lost their SNAP benefits — the program runs from now until the day before Thanksgiving.
Local shoppers can support the effort by purchasing a $10 prepackaged bag at Hyvee — half of each sale funds more free holiday meal bags.
🏛️ Government
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services announced a program offering up to $90,000 in student loan repayment for registered dietitians who secure employment in rural and designated shortage areas, with a required 50/50 match from their local employer.
The program also provides options for doctors, dentists and other health professionals practicing in these areas.
