- ➤ About 500 people will attend the Officer Chris Abbott Memorial Holiday Heroes Chili Cook Off at the Beardmore Event Center tonight to raise funds for Bellevue's Holiday Heroes program. The event—named in honor of the late officer who loved the contest—will feature a silent auction and $10 tickets for ages 9 and older to help up to 150 children shop for the holidays. KETV
- ➤ The local VFW Auxiliary will host a Veterans Day dinner drive-through at VFW Bellevue on November 11 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Orders must be submitted by Saturday for a free meal featuring roast pork, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, sauerkraut served separately & cookies. Bellevue Times
- ➤ A local military family received a new car today from Progressive’s Keys to Progress program to help start their life together. Jason Flores, stationed at Offutt, said the gift will enable the couple, with his wife studying for medical school, to move in together—replacing their unreliable vehicle. WOWT
- ➤ Bellevue East Bands are hosting a craft fair on November 8 at Bellevue East High School’s South Gym from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm—admission is $3 and vendors are still being accepted. Bellevue Times
- ➤ Sarpy County organizations and local churches are helping families facing food shortages during the government shutdown by offering free dinners, with meals set through the holiday season — families can attend the next meal this Saturday at Overland Hills Church in Papillion from 5 to 7 p.m. 3 News Now
- ➤ The Bellevue Native Plant Society is holding monthly in-person meetings at the Bellevue Public Library from March to November where society leaders will update members on funding, event feedback, and upcoming calendar items — members are invited to share ideas for community projects and attend workshops when funding permits. - ➤ One Omaha resident said his ACA marketplace plan will increase 40% for 2026, raising his monthly premium from $1,000 to $1,500 and warning that rising costs may be hard to manage. - ➤ The Simpson family celebrated their daughter Alex’s 20th birthday on Nov. 4 after a long journey with her rare condition, hydranencephaly, which left her with only part of her brain. They said love helped her grow calmer and healthier over time—her spirit continues to inspire the family. KETV
