  • Romeo is a friendly three legged dog at the Nebraska Humane Society who had his back leg removed to help ease pain from a torn ACL—he moves well now and is looking for a new loving home.  KETV
  • Today, Pollinator Alliance of the Heartland is hosting its 3rd Annual Milkweed & Cookies event at Bellevue University's John B. Muller Administration Building at 812 Bruin Blvd from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., where the free event will feature a vendor fair with local nonprofits and businesses, a cookie-decorating station, raffle, and speaker presentations by Lance Brisbois, Michelle Brannen, and Jennifer Hopwood, with all 160 pre-registered Native Garden Giveaways reserved to boost native planting for pollinator support.  Bellevue Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Congressman Mike Flood said he is worried about political violence affecting young people after a 22 year old suspect was arrested for allegedly killing political activist Charlie Kirk. He explained that his 15 year old texted him about Kirk while he was in Washington and thanked law enforcement— adding that he will keep his face to face events and urged lawmakers to respect opposing views.  KETV
  • The Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District board approved its 2026 budget on September 12—which totals about $115.4 million and adds an extra $6 million for levee repairs after three storms last year—and the 2.7% mill levy increase raised property taxes by about $45.53 for a homeowner with a $150,000 property.  KETV
