- ➤ OPPD commissioned two new natural gas power plants—one near 120th and Military and one outside Gretna—to meet growing manufacturing and AI energy needs. Today, the utility began construction on a third turbine at the Gretna plant and is converting its North Omaha coal plant to natural gas as it works to double its energy portfolio by decade's end. - ➤ On Sept. 3, Nebraska enacted LB 78 to raise the document stamp tax by seven cents per $1,000 of property—funding housing for survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking. Lincoln Senator Eliot Bostar sponsored the law to help groups get more beds for those in need. WOWT
- ➤ The Omaha Public Power District has brought Turtle Creek Station and Standing Bear Lake Station online to meet growing energy needs and support local industrial development — Papillion Mayor David Black said the new facilities offer rates 30% lower than the national average.
