- ➤ The Sarpy County Memorial Forest is being set up at Banner Park to honor 7,500 fallen military and first responders by planting 50 trees — planting begins at 9 a.m. on September 27 and volunteers may sign up to help. 3 News Now

- ➤ Travis Proulx of Papillion said he is being harassed by scammers who send AI-generated photos of his missing service dog Lila, who escaped on Aug. 10, while Bellevue Police advise residents to check photos for signs of fake imagery—scam calls include texts with misleading images. WOWT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The state of Nebraska cut funding for its everyday drug take-back program that had safely disposed of nearly 280,000 pounds of medications since 2015. Pharmacists say that without taxpayer support, regular disposal services will soon be less available—leaving only the National Drug Take Back Day on Oct. 25 as an organized option. KETV
- ➤ Today, Nebraska lawmakers passed Taryn’s Law — named after Taryn Griffith who died from a counterfeit drug — to impose harsher penalties on drug dealers responsible for fentanyl deaths. The Omaha DEA said the law will boost efforts to charge traffickers and help prevent further fatalities. KETV
