- ➤ Nebraska State Patrol is joining a national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign that will run through Labor Day with NDOT—troopers arrested 318 people since Memorial Day and now plan to lower crashes from drunk driving as high traffic from back-to-school, the State Fair, and Husker games rises. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sarpy County officials filed a civil complaint against property owner Brian Topp after repeated warnings to clean up his yard of washers and dryers near 148th and Josephine. Topp must respond by early September as inspectors—backed by a deputy—collected evidence while neighbors say the area still looks like a junkyard. WOWT
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Bill Lydiatt, CEO of Clarkson Regional Health Services, has developed Bridges to Mental Health to train more health care workers in treating mental disorders in nearly all Nebraska counties. Over the past two years, more than 500 doctors attended these sessions, and another conference is scheduled for November — including outreach to teachers. KETV
