Good morning, Bellevue.
🏛️ Government
Today, the Nebraska National Guard’s Civil Support Team is running a major disaster drill at seven metro spots including Charles Schwab Field, UNMC, the Durham railyard and the Sumtur Amphitheater — all to sharpen responses to chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear events.
More than 200 personnel from seven states trained on Thursday and will wrap up the exercise with an educational seminar later today.
🏥 Health
As parents in Bellevue get their kids ready for school, Dr. Michael Turco of Methodist Physicians Clinic stressed that regular checkups, required vaccines and optional boosters + sports physicals help keep students healthy and in class.
He advised starting new routines a week or two early so that children can smoothly adjust before school begins.
