- ➤ The city of Bellevue will open four new pickleball courts at Everett Park this week—lights are being added so neighbors can play in the evening. Officials said extra work was needed, and the courts are set to be ready by the end of the week. 3 News Now

- ➤ An 89-year-old veteran and his 87-year-old wife experienced a sewer backup at their Bellevue home near 36th Street and Cornhusker Road and spent their retirement savings on repairs— the couple says city workers promised the city would cover cleanup while officials noted no repair request was made. The dispute leaves the seniors with unfinished basement repairs and ongoing financial hardship. WOWT
- ➤ Offutt Air Force Base will conduct a natural disaster response exercise on July 30 to test its mass notification system (the giant voice) that will send alerts via phone, email and text. Evaluation personnel wearing red vests or WIT badges will oversee the drill during the exercise. WOWT
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ New federal income guidelines took effect on July 1 to expand WIC so more women, infants and children can get healthy foods, breastfeeding support and health screenings. The Douglas County Health Department said about 14,000 to 15,000 people use the program and a Midtown office will move to 88th and Center Streets in September — the update follows national poverty levels.
