  • A recent Nebraska Attorney General’s opinion warned tax assessors that they could be liable for trespassing if they enter private property without permission, and Washington County Attorney Scott Vander Schaaf ordered a cease-and-desist for on-site inspections. Assessors statewide have been told to consult with their county attorney before entering property — assessors in Sarpy and Douglas counties said they already require owner consent.  WOWT
