🚨 Crime
A civilian at Offutt Air Force Base pleaded guilty on Thursday to sending classified national defense information through an online dating platform to a profile posing as a Ukrainian woman—David Slater, 64, who worked with a top-secret clearance from August 2021 to April 2022 and now faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in October.

Gov. Pillen announced appointments to a new School Financing Review Commission on Thursday after signing LB303 on June 4 to review the state’s school funding formula and ensure stable aid to schools.
The 18 person commission — chaired by education commissioner Brian Maher — will give the Legislature annual recommendations to help ease the property tax burden on schools.
Today, Nebraska Congressman Don Bacon reintroduced the Back the Blue Act to add protection for federal officers, judges, and public safety officers who are being targeted.
He led a roundtable with law enforcement leaders to outline that the bill would make an offender eligible for the death penalty if a targeted official dies—while also expanding gun-carry rights and limiting appeal options for these cases.
