A Nebraska State Trooper was injured when his cruiser was hit by a box truck—NSP said he was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the crash occurred on I-80 near 50th Street Monday evening.

Homeland Security agents arrested a suspected Venezuelan gang member, Gabriel Hurtado-Cariaco (30), in Bellevue near 25th Street and Chandler Road after a dangerous traffic stop that injured an FBI and ICE agent when he fought arrest, and he now faces charges of attempted murder and assault on a federal officer while other identified gang members remain sought.

Gov. Jim Pillen announced today that the developmentally disabled wait list is over so that 3,000 families can now get immediate access to services through a new Family Support Waiver funded with $18 million of state funds that leverages over $20 million in federal Medicaid dollars. Some providers worry—due to low wages and staffing issues—that future support levels may face challenges.

Nebraska Medicine announced plans for a new health center in Gretna that will cover 125,000 square feet and be part of the Gretna Landing development which spans 31 acres.

Groundbreaking will begin later this summer and the facility will open in September 2027—offering primary care, immediate care, specialty services, advanced imaging, and an on-site pharmacy to meet growing local healthcare needs.
