ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fontenelle Forest and the Bellevue Fire Department are monitoring a fire in the floodplain that burned 30 acres and closed trails since yesterday, and officials said the cause remains unknown. KETV
- ➤ WM opened a $68 million facility near Bennington that captures methane from landfill waste and turns it into fuel for stoves + water heaters and trash trucks. The plant produces enough energy to power nearly 11,500 homes and helps reduce harmful emissions. WOWT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Nebraska lawmakers passed a year-round E15 bill on Wednesday (allowing gasoline blended with 15% ethanol) that expands market access for local farmers and consumers. The bill now moves to the Senate for a vote to deliver nationwide regulatory relief. WOWT
- ➤ The U.S. House passed the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act on Wednesday, May 13, which lets E15 gasoline be sold year-round.
