- ➤ Great Plains Theatre Commons has selected 10 playwrights for the PlayLab program hosted by Metropolitan Community College from Sunday, May 25 to Saturday, May 31—this 20th-anniversary festival will be free to the public and will feature Pulitzer and Tony Award-winner Doug Wright after reviewing 700 anonymous submissions. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Nebraska faced a statewide fuel shortage as refineries switched blends, forcing suppliers to travel to Kansas, Oklahoma — and Wyoming — to secure gas, which has raised prices at the pump. Governor Pillen signed an emergency order in early May that extended truckers’ driving hours to ease delays, but the order expires today. WOWT

- ➤ Nebraska lawmakers advanced the amended Stand With Women Act to final reading on Wednesday night—removing provisions for bathroom and locker room access—and focusing solely on sports access. After hours of debate, the amendment passed and the bill will now move to its next legislative step. KETV
- ➤ Nebraska Treasurer Tom Briese said lawmakers advanced an $11B, two-year state budget plan that uses revenue bills and cash fund sweeps to address a $262 million shortfall.
