- ➤ Area colleges are hosting graduation ceremonies Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9 across several campuses including Northeast Community College (Norfolk), UNO (Omaha), UNL (Lincoln), UNMC (Omaha), Midland University (Fremont) and Peru State College (Peru). KETV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Engineers drilled 250 holes in Portal Lake's dry lakebed in Papillion and found coarse-grain sand near the surface that is causing a leak; they will now use electric currents to map soil in the top 40 to 60 feet as Papio NRD plans to refill the lake by next spring. 3 News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting Monday, May 11, Platteview Road near 87th Street in Bellevue will be reduced to one lane for a Sarpy County repair project, causing delays as repairs move east toward 27th Street. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time & use caution until the project ends in early July. Bellevue Times
- ➤ Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen signed two business laws on May 7 at Claas of America near 132nd & Giles streets; LB847 creates an apprenticeship registry and LB1165 provides retention and hiring incentives to support emerging businesses. KETV
