Users of the KETV NewsWatch 7 App can now set up personalized severe weather alerts to get warnings for tornadoes, floods, severe thunderstorms and winter storms.

The update—available for download on Apple and Android phones—requires users to enable location tracking so alerts reach them based on their current spot.

Bellevue University hosts its 15th annual Earth Day celebration today from noon to 4 p.m.—the event features over 30 exhibits and activities on small space gardening, composting, and waste reduction led by Green Bellevue to teach local ways to protect the environment.

KETV chief meteorologist Bill Randby said the spring and summer severe weather season will be more normal—fewer tornadoes and storms than last year—and that Nebraska may face heat waves and drought as La Niña ends.

His outlook warns that while severe weather will still occur, the overall pattern should be less extreme.
