- ➤ Pilgrim's Landing 24th Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale will be held on Friday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 3 from 8 a.m. to Noon near 25th and Fairview Road in Pilgrim's Landing—tens of thousands of items from local households, including clothes and toys, will be for sale. - ➤ Legendary country singer Darius Rucker, known for his hit songs and time with Hootie and the Blowfish, will perform at Stir Cove in Council Bluffs on July 25 with special guest Shane Profitt — tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. KETV
- ➤ Tonight, people around the metro will have the opportunity to see an award-winning documentary 'Divisible' that covers redlining's historical context and its current impacts. UNO professor Dr. Nikitah Imani said the film will motivate viewers to become involved in local planning & development and the electoral process. KETV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Nebraska lawmakers spent hours debating a bill that would change how the state picks its presidential votes and Tuesday they voted down the winner-take-all plan when two senators (Merv Riepe and Dave Wordekemper) cast key votes. Gov. Jim Pillen called the vote disappointing and the ACLU said the current plan helps more people vote (and efforts to change the rules will continue). KETV
- ➤ On Tuesday, Bellevue roads saw more officers enforcing the 'Put Away or Pay' campaign to combat distracted driving while lane reductions on Interstate 80 from Q to 144th affected westbound traffic and the Interstate 480 exit ramp to Dodge remained closed until April 29—Douglas County Sheriff Aaron Hanson urged drivers to stay focused. The project plans call for an extra westbound lane and exit lane to open in fall. KETV
- ➤ Nebraska congressman Don Bacon introduced the Trade Review Act of 2025 to restore Congress’ role in trade by requiring the president to notify lawmakers within 48 hours of raising tariffs on foreign goods — his bill mirrors a 2019 proposal and comes as the White House plans broader tariffs. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Douglas County Health's Deputy Director Justin Frederick said kindergartners' measles vaccination rates dropped from over 96% in 2019 and 2020 to about 93.5% in 2023 and 2024, and he warned that the low rate may let measles spread if the virus reaches Omaha—Pediatric chief Kari Simonsen said two doses of the vaccine boost protection to between 97% and 99% while Lancaster County also monitors the risk.
