CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bellevue police responded late Thursday to a shooting at an apartment complex near Englewood Drive and Galvin Road and took two people with injuries to a hospital with life-threatening conditions while investigating a possible physical disturbance. WOWT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ USDA cut funding by ending an expansion of the Local Food For Schools program and the Local Food Purchase Assistance program that helped schools and the Food Bank of Lincoln buy local food. The 198 schools in the current program will keep receiving funds through December—local farms and the food bank now face challenges with fewer funds. WOWT
- ➤ Nebraska Senator Ben Hansen from Blair introduced a bill to change the rule that requires fluoride in water so that it becomes optional instead of mandatory. He said the change is needed because he believes fluoridated water can harm children's health and IQ—while dental experts say the current level helps prevent tooth decay. WOWT
